A Few Things You Need to Learn when it Comes to Roulette Betting

by Roulette Fan on March 23, 2010

If you’ve been looking to verify the validity of the advertised betting systems that claim to be able to beat the game of rulet, then look no further because all the claims are false. Regardless of the roulette betting techniques used, the house’s advantage over you remains the same in any case. That means that you would still be going against the 2.6% house edge with European tables and 5.26% with American roulette tables.

But this never means that there’s no chance at winning in roulette betting. This write-up discusses some of the many betting techniques used by enthusiasts and you can go through each and compare it with the others.

Types of Roulette Betting:

There are different roulette betting strategies, each of which can be grouped into two basic types—inside or outside bets. Read the classifications below to get to know more.

The Outside Bets

In roulette, an outside bet is a bet that simply resides ‘outside’ of the main playing area of 38 numbers. It denotes that the chance of winning bets for 00 or 0 are eliminated entirely. Take note of the following number for outside bets.

  • There are 12-number/dozen groupings, so you can place bets on the first dozen (1-12), second (13-24), or third (25-36).
  • Twelve numbers column feature boxes at an end of groups of 38 numbers and the boxes have “2 to 1” marks. The boxes are actually part of a column and when you win, the number you have chosen shows up. This is actually similar to the previous type of bet.
  • There are other forms of outside bets when it comes to roulette betting and these are low or high numbers, red or black, and odd or even sets. Each of these gives you the possibility of winning in roulette.

Inside bets

  • One Number Straight up – some people refer to this as the simplest of all roulette bets. It requires players to place their bet on any one of the 38 numbers on the table so as to get a chance to win at 35 to 1. This sounds simple though some may find it difficult to come by.
  • Two numbers Split Bet – Assuming two numbers are beside each other on a table, you can place your bet on both to result in what is referred to as a ‘split bet’. This is a bet that pays 17 to 1 if either of the number shows up. This is done by putting your chip onto the line parts two numbers.

Other inside bets not discussed here are: Three Numbers Street Bet, Four Numbers Corner and Six Numbers Line Bet.
